THE ANTISWIPE

As a single millennial with a dislike of the dating apps and a proven skill of socialising, the thought of being able to connect single, like minded people, face to face was something that really excited me. From that random thought one day in February 2024, The Anti Swipe was born.

The concept of The Anti Swipe is to connect single people, without the need to trawl through the apps, providing access to events with an activity, followed by time to network afterwards. Keeping things as affordable as possible is top priority, so the aim is to keep the events around the cost of a first date (and c’mon girls…that doesn’t mean free, we’re all independent women nowadays aren’t we?).

The benefit of spending that on an Anti Swipe event is that you get to meet more than one person and all the events will have a balanced gender attendance. After a bit of market research, it became clear this isn’t just a gap in the market in London and I now have the perfect excuse to head across the bridge to ‘the green green grass of home’ to South Wales and offer The Anti Swipe services to Welsh singles too. I would love for this to reach so many more people across the UK (and beyond) but slow and steady wins the race, right?

FAQs

What actually is The Antiswipe?
We’re a dating events brand bringing people together in real life - no apps, no swiping, no ick. Think fun, laid-back events where you can actually talk to people face-to-face. Wild concept, we know.

Do I need to come solo?
Most people do - and we make it easy to settle in. Our hosts are there to get you mingling without any of the awkward “so, what do you do?” intros. If you bring a friend, just make sure you don’t stick together so much that you miss out on meeting new faces.

What kind of events do you run?
Not just drinks at a bar (though sometimes, yes). We mix it up with games, sports, classes, and creative stuff - basically anything that helps you connect without forced small talk.

How do I get tickets?
Keep an eye on our Events page or join the mailing list for first dibs. Tickets usually go fast, so don’t hang about.

What age range are the events for?
Most of our events are open to people in their 20s, 30s and early 40s, but it depends on the night. We’ll always let you know the target age range in the event listing.

Is this speed dating?
Nope. No clocks, no chairs, no weird energy. You’ll meet lots of people naturally throughout the night. If you do want something more structured, we might throw in a little prompt or activity to help break the ice.

What if I don’t meet anyone I fancy?
Honestly, it happens. But our events are designed to be a great night regardless - good vibes, good chat, and usually a decent drink in hand. Worst case? You leave with new mates or a new go-to venue.

How do matches work?
At most events, you’ll be able to submit names of people you clicked with after the event. If it’s mutual, we’ll connect you. No pressure, no cringe.
